What are Reflexology and Reiki?
Reflexology and Reiki are non-intrusive, holistic therapies. The word holistic comes from the Greek word "holos", meaning "whole". Holistic therapists consider a whole person's body, mind and emotions, not just any physical symptoms they are presenting.
Reflexology works on the theory that different points on the feet and hands are linked to corresponding areas of the body.
Reflexologists methodically manipulate/massage the feet to clear any energy blockages, which may show up as tender, lumpy or “crunchy” areas on the feet, to allow the free flow of energy throughout the body. This creates a state of balance and harmony that encourages vitality, relaxation and self-healing. The treatment is extremely relaxing and rejuvenating. Reflexologists do not claim to cure illness, but aim to enable the systems within the body to reach a state of balance, promoting self-healing.
Reflexology has been found to be beneficial in reducing stress and anxiety, but can also help with improving circulation, restoring sleep patterns, boosting the immune system and energy levels, calming digestive problems, reducing pain and muscular tension, plantar fasciitis, headaches and so much more! It is suitable for all ages. If you feel that you would prefer to have the treatment given on your hands rather than your feet, please let me know when you are booking.
Please click on the video below from the Association of Reflexologists, which explains the methods and benefits of Reflexology. Please also look at the tab "Interactive Hand and Foot Maps" and investigate further.
Reiki has very similar benefits to Reflexology, but is delivered by the placing of hands on or above various points on the head, face and body whilst the recipient is lying down on the massage couch (although it can be given in a seated position). It is deeply relaxing, and enables the free flow of the body's own energy, supporting the body's natural ability to heal and giving a real sense of peace and well-being.
Reflexology and Reiki treatments can be combined, i.e. 30 minutes of Reflexology, and 15 or 30 minutes of Reiki.
Take some time out and experience either of these balancing, relaxing and rejuvenating treatments for yourself at my treatment room in my garden in Ipswich, Suffolk. Please contact me (see details on the right) if you have any questions or concerns.
